This past week has been a sort of learning journey for me.
I spent time reconnecting with some people from our Rei-Ki group, and had an opportunity to understand certain life concepts that can add value to our life experience.
One concept is the power of positive conviction or another word is affirmation.
Yes, some of you may have heard of this before.
I just want to share my understanding of this and maybe this perspective will help others out there have a clearer idea of what this concept means.
A few years ago, there was this massively successful book that came out called 'The Secret'.
I understood that concept on a superficial level. Basically, what I understood then was that positive thinking and affirmations will lead to you having a better life. Think of good things and good things will happen, ie; like attracts like.
These past few days, I had an opportunity to discuss this with a close friend of mine.
We can take this concept of positive thinking and culminate it into making positive convictions or affirmations.
It's not a matter of just saying or thinking in a positive mindset but adding on the conviction to it.
Before making this conviction, ask yourself the most basic of questions:
"What do I really want?"
Most people can't answer that question directly - they tend to hem and haw over the answer. Going on like, "Ermm... yeah I would like the day to go well," or "Maybe I want my job to be better," or "I think I want to be healthy." etc, etc.
The trick is simply by changing the words and tone used - and belief. Believe in what you say.
For example, instead of saying "Things will go well today" - you say out loud to yourself in a clear and positive tone, "I really want a good day today." And believe it.
You will be amazed at how just making a few minor adjustments to your perspective can impact your life going forward.
And this is for free - there is no monetary cost to it - you don't need to go get certified to develop this skill.
The beauty of this is that anyone can learn it and do it for themselves. There is no impact to your spiritual belief system (whatever that may be) and you can change your own world, perhaps for the better.
I personally think this can make for a happier and smoother life journey for everyone.
Now I really want a happy long weekend for all of you out there!
